Wisconsin state animal, the badger.  Why?  Alongside our fur trading heritage, our other main export was our lead.  Cornish miners were small in stature but mighty in strength.  They burrowed into the sides of the hills in the driftless region, just like badgers, to mine the lead and many times live because there was no time or money for a house.
